SCE&G regularly trims the trees around power lines to provide proper operating clearance and to ensure safe and reliable power to your neighborhood.
We use the natural target pruning method, which follows the American National Standard for Tree Care Operations, ANSI A300. This method typically results in only trimming limbs that are growing toward the power line. It helps train the future growth of the tree away from the power lines, keeping maintenance costs and future pruning to a minimum. You can learn more about the natural target pruning method by reading SCE&G's tree trimming practices.
