Natural Gas Value Rate Available for New Homes
February, 2008 - Issue #1

Selling a new construction home? Make sure your clients know that including natural gas water heating can save them on their energy bills. Newly built homes with natural gas water heating qualify for SCE&G’s cost-saving Natural Gas Value Rate.

SCE&G’s Value Rate is approximately six cents per therm lower than the SCE&G standard rate. It’s available for customers who use an average of 10 therms of gas per month during the summer months. (That’s about the amount of gas a typical family might use for water heating.)

With natural gas water heating, your clients will not only have an abundant supply of hot water, but will save on their monthly energy bill. To continue receiving the Value Rate, customers will re-qualify each year by using 10 therms of natural gas during the summer months. Those not meeting the usage requirements will be placed on SCE&G’s Standard Rate.

If the new construction your clients are considering doesn’t include natural gas water heating, encourage them to talk to their builder. If natural gas is available in the area, chances are it may be easy to add a gas line.
