April 27, 2006, Columbia, SC, - SCANA Corporation (NYSE: SCG) announced today the retirement of Neville O. Lorick, president of South Carolina Electric & Gas Company (SCE&G), effective May 15, 2006, and the appointment of SCANA Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Kevin B. Marsh, as his successor.

"This is a bittersweet announcement for me," said SCANA CEO William B. Timmerman. "Not only has Neville been an incredible leader, he is also a personal friend and confidant. He has been a terrific mentor to so many of our younger leaders. However, following 35-plus years of extraordinary service to SCE&G, our employees and our customers, I accept his decision to retire."

Lorick began his career with SCE&G in 1971 as a student assistant meter reader. During his career he held numerous leadership positions from serving as plant manager at Canady's Station Fossil Steam Plant, general manager of Fossil and Production Operations to manager of operation services. He has served as president and chief operating officer for SCE&G for the past five years with responsibility for all natural gas and electric operations of the company. He will continue to serve in a consulting capacity with SCE&G for a period of time.

SCE&G has consistently been recognized for operational excellence during Lorick's tenure, including the construction of the Jasper Generating Plant and the Lake Murray Back-up Dam. However, Lorick is best known within the company for his compassion for employees and his advocacy for a safe work environment.

"I've known this day was coming for some time, and that allowed for proper succession planning so that we could fill this critical role from within and with someone who understands our culture and our focus on serving our customers well," said Timmerman. "Our depth of talent internally is allowing us to place a candidate with the highest of qualifications in this strategic leadership role for our company. Kevin has great financial, operational and people skills, which is a rare and valuable combination."

Marsh, 50, a long-time Columbia resident, is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. He earned a BS in accounting at the University of Georgia in Athens and began his career with Deloitte & Touche in Columbia in 1977. Marsh joined SCE&G in 1984 in accounting and was named vice president and controller in 1989. Since that time he has served in various capacities, including president and chief operating officer of PSNC Energy, SCANA's natural gas distribution company headquartered in Gastonia, North Carolina from October 2001 through March 2003 while also serving as SCANA's CFO.

With Marsh's selection as president of SCE&G, Jimmy Addison, vice president of finance for SCANA and all its subsidiaries, will be promoted to senior vice president and CFO. Addison, a certified public accountant, is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a BS and master's in accounting.

A native of Lancaster, SC, Addison began his career at SCANA 15 years ago as controller of SCE&G, and assumed responsibility for information technology in 1996. He has served as VP of finance since 2001. Active in various community organizations including the advisory board of the Moore School of Business at USC, Addison also serves as treasurer of the Southeastern Electric Exchange.
