CAYCE, S.C. (July 2, 2012) – South Carolina Electric & Gas is helping restore power to Maryland and Ohio residents affected by recent storms across the midwest and along the east coast. The company released approximately 178 contract linemen and tree personnel this weekend to support Potomac Edison and PEPCO in Maryland and American Electric Power in Ohio. SCE&G’s contract crews will assist in power restoration efforts and aid in the removal of fallen trees and debris. Contract crews will most likely be working through the end of the week.

While these crews are away, SCE&G will continue to monitor the weather in South Carolina and respond to any outages that may occur. SCE&G company crews are staffed in anticipation of any storms that may come through its service area this week. For outage reporting information, visit the SCE&G storm center at www.sceg.com/en/storm-center/.
