Mt. Pleasant, S.C. (Nov. 5, 2010) – SCE&G will begin upgrading an existing electrical line along Coleman Blvd. from Patriots Point Blvd. to Lansing Drive starting Nov. 8 and continuing for the next 4 to 6 months.

This upgrade is needed to increase the reliability of one of the main electrical lines that feeds into the Mt. Pleasant area. Currently, wooden poles support the existing line along Coleman Blvd. The new line will have fewer poles, but the new poles will be made of steel.

Due to the size of the equipment needed for this operation, traffic flow will be affected in this area. One lane will be closed for a certain amount of time, for each pole location.

In order to help traffic flow smoothly during morning and afternoon rush hours, most of the work will be done weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and some weekends.

SCE&G has obtained traffic control permits from the SCDOT and the Town of Mount Pleasant and has alerted customers in the affected area.
