SCE&G Storm Crews Continue Work in Virginia
Cayce, SC, August 31, 2011 … SCE&G storm crews continue assisting Dominion Virginia Power with its Hurricane Irene restoration efforts in Virginia. The 100 linemen and support staff began working Aug. 30 and will continue up to two weeks. As of Aug. 31, more than 250,000 Dominion Virginia Power customers remain without power.

SCE&G storm crews begin work in Virginia

Cayce, SC, August 30, 2011 ... SCE&G storm crews arrived in Richmond, Va. Aug. 29 to assist Dominion Virginia Power with power restoration efforts as a result of Hurricane Irene. The 100 linemen and support staff began working with Dominion on Aug. 30.

At the height of storm, 1.2 million customers of Dominion Virginia Power and Dominion North Carolina Power were without electricity. According to Dominion’s current outage map, approximately 400,000 customers remain without power, primarily in the Richmond and Southeastern Virginia areas.

Nearly 7,000 people, using a total of 1,100 bucket trucks, are helping Dominion restore power outages as a result of Hurricane Irene’s high winds and flooding. Included are more than 2,800 workers from utilities in Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina and South Carolina. SCE&G crews will be assisting for up to two weeks. SCE&G released 154 contract linemen over the weekend to help Dominion, and 49 contractors were sent to assist Progress Energy.

SCE&G Crews Assist in Hurricane Irene Storm Restoration Efforts
Cayce, SC, August 29, 2011 ... SCE&G’s service territory received minimal impact from Hurricane Irene as the storm moved along the East Coast, with the majority of outages occurring on Friday, August 26 in the Folly Beach area. Power was restored to approximately 2,500 customers on Folly Beach that evening.

Many northeastern states experienced high winds, heavy rain and flooding as a result of the category 1 storm. Millions of northeastern residents were also left without power. To assist with restoration efforts, 100 SCE&G linemen and support staff left this morning to assist Dominion Virginia Power with storm restoration efforts in Virginia. They joined 154 contract linemen that left over the weekend to help Dominion. SCE&G also sent 49 contractors to assist Progress Energy in storm restoration efforts. Crews will be assisting for up to two weeks.
