Lighting

Cut your monthly expenses with strategic investments in energy-efficient lighting.

For most businesses, lighting accounts for 30% to 60% of annual electricity costs. Taking advantage of recent advances in lighting technology can help your business reduce its energy demand and save money. Regardless of the size or nature of your business, whether you have office, retail, food service, manufacturing, or commercial space, SCE&G incentives are available to make your lighting projects more cost effective now and over the long run.

Eligible Projects
Incentives are available to cover a portion of the costs for the following types of projects:

  • One-for-one fixture replacements within existing buildings or upgrades for new buildings
  • Complete lighting design for new construction projects
  • Existing traffic signal retrofits – heads only

Lighting
SCE&G incentives are available for a variety of prescriptive, off-the-shelf applications for commercial and industrial lighting systems, including lamp and ballast retrofits, permanent delamping, fluorescent high-bay fixtures, compact fluorescent and high-intensity discharge (HID) lamps, exit signs, and lighting controls.

Your incentives are waiting! Download and complete both the lighting application and the lighting worksheet below. Remember to submit the lighting worksheet electronically to EnergyExperts@sceg.com

LED Lighting
SCE&G offers incentives for a variety of prescriptive LED lamps and fixtures. These include integral LED replacements, LED downlights, LED garage or canopy fixtures and parking lot, area or wall pack LEDs for lighting projects in commercial and industrial facilities. Incentives range from $25-$175 per fixture or lamp qualified. Incentives for LED lighting controls are also offered on the LED lighting application.

LEDs use at least 75% less energy than incandescent lighting, which in turn saves on operating expenses. When installed in the right application, they typically last up to 50 times longer than incandescent lighting and about 2 to 5 times longer than fluorescent lighting, which eliminates bulb replacements and ongoing bulb disposals.

Incentives may also be available for additional LED technologies not included on the LED Lighting Incentive application through SCE&G’s Custom Incentive offering. To ensure product eligibility, download and review the technical requirements below. The technical requirements document provides detailed information on eligibility criteria for LED technology and its use in the EnergyWise for Your Business Program. These standards are subject to revision. As new information and/or testing standards become available, SCE&G reserves the right to alter or change specifications or eligibility requirements without notice.

LED Traffic Signals
SCE&G incentives are available for traffic signals that employ light-emitting diode, or LED, technology.

LED traffic signals offer a number of benefits compared to incandescent lighting:

  • Longer life — LED signals have a longer lifespan compared to incandescent lighting.
  • Energy savings — LED signals use less energy compared to their incandescent counterparts.
  • Elimination of total failures — Incandescent lamps have a single filament. When the filament fails, the signal goes dark and the bulb must be immediately replaced. LED lamps, however, continue to work even if several of the miniature diodes stop working.
  • Brightness — LED signals are typically brighter compared to incandescent traffic signals, which enhances intersection safety.
