Cayce, S.C. (April 4, 2016) – Residents of Allendale gathered Thursday evening at Allendale Community Center to learn more about an energy-efficiency program that SCE&G will offer at no charge to more than 600 homes in the area. Almost half of the town’s households will be eligible to participate in the program.
SCE&G started the Neighborhood Energy Efficiency Program in 2013 to provide eligible neighborhoods with energy audits and energy-saving improvements for residential customers.
Attendees at Thursday’s event learned about some of the energy-saving improvements that they will receive for no charge, which could include:
- CFL light bulbs
- Electric water heater wraps and insulation for water pipes
- Smart-Strip power strips
- Winterization kits for window/wall units
- Adjustment of electric water heater temperature
- HVAC filter installation
“I am pleased to see SCE&G helping Allendale residents implement energy savings measures in their homes,” said Ronnie Jackson, mayor of the Town of Allendale. “I look forward to the positive impact this effort will have on our community by helping people reduce their energy consumption and related costs.”
The Neighborhood Energy Efficiency Program will be active in Allendale for approximately four months.
“Allendale presents a unique opportunity for us because we are able to serve such a large part of this community,” said Therese Griffin, manager of SCE&G Energy Efficiency Programs. “We are proud to bring the Neighborhood Energy Efficiency Program to this area as part of our commitment to help our customers save energy.”
