SCE&G’s Neighborhood Energy Efficiency Program will provide eligible neighborhoods with energy audits and energy-saving improvements. North Charleston residents who attended the event were a part of the largest opportunity for customers since the inception of the Neighborhood Energy Efficiency Program in 2013.
Attendees at Thursday’s event learned about the energy-saving improvements that they will receive for no charge through the program, including:
- LED light bulbs
- Kitchen faucet aerators
- Electric water heater wraps and insulation for water pipes
- Power strips
- Winterization kits for window/wall units
- Adjustment of electric water heater temperature

“At SCE&G, serving our community is one of our core values,” said Gerald Freeman, program manager of SCE&G’s Neighborhood Energy Efficiency Program. “The Neighborhood Energy Efficiency Program gives us an opportunity to go out into communities within our service territory to meet customers, speak with them about their power usage and show them how they can save energy by making small changes.”
