Cayce, S.C. (Oct. 20, 2017) – Saluda resident Vivian Valentine had her home “weatherized” yesterday by volunteers from SCE&G, the South Carolina Department of Administration’s Office of Economic Development and GLEAMNS Human Resources Commission, Inc.
"Serving our community is one of our core values and weatherization projects provide us with the opportunity not only to serve our customers, but to interact with them as well,” said president of SCE&G’s gas operations Rusty Harris. “The weatherization projects we complete throughout our community are incredibly meaningful to us, and I’m proud of our employee volunteers for generously giving their time and effort to help make it a success."
As part of the weatherization effort, SCE&G volunteers completed several tasks to make Valentine’s home safer and more energy efficient, including replacing and painting the crawl space door; vacuuming and sealing supply ducts and returns; installing new filter grills, floor insulation, smoke detectors, CO monitors and pressure relief piping; repairing and patching holes in walls; sealing cracks around ceilings and floors, and fixing improper venting.
