Cayce, S.C. (Dec. 15, 2017) – SCE&G employees and retirees delivered holiday food baskets and toys to 400 Midlands families in need as a part of SCE&G’s 35th Annual Good Neighbor Fund Christmas Project. Altogether, 950 food baskets were packed and delivered throughout SCE&G’s service territories in South Carolina and North Carolina.
“One of our company’s core values is to serve our community, and the Good Neighbor Fund has been doing just that since its inception more than 30 years ago,” said Denise Tindell-Ware, president of the Good Neighbor Fund. “Our annual Christmas Project is an opportunity for us to provide families throughout the Midlands not only with food baskets and gifts for their children, but with hope and a holiday season that’s a little less stressful.”
A nonprofit organization funded and run by SCE&G employees and retirees, the Good Neighbor Fund provides assistance throughout the year to families who have exhausted other sources of help. Since 1983, the Good Neighbor Fund has helped more than 12,000 families with donations of more than $4.5 million. More than 19,200 Christmas Project baskets have been delivered in South Carolina, and 100 percent of all donations go directly to helping families in need.
“We are passionate about helping customers in need and their families,” said Cristina Freeman, customer assistance program manager for SCE&G. “Our goal is to make sure they know where to turn and that we care about them and their families. We don’t stop with the Good Neighbor Fund programs. We’re dedicated to our customers all year long.”
