SCE&G Hosts Neighborhood Energy Efficiency Program in Blackville

Cayce, S.C. (Feb. 7, 2018) – Residents of Blackville attended a community meeting Tuesday, Feb. 5, to receive information about an energy efficiency program that SCE&G is offering through March 2018 at no charge to residential customers in the area.

SCE&G’s Neighborhood Energy Efficiency Program will provide more than 1,000 eligible Blackville customers with energy assessments, education and direct installation of energy-saving improvements. In addition to the energy-saving measures, approximately 100 customers who own mobile or manufactured homes will receive some weatherization upgrades, such as attic insulation and air and duct sealing.

Attendees at yesterday’s event learned about the energy-saving improvements that they will receive for no charge through the program, including, but not limited to:

  • LED light bulbs
  • Kitchen faucet aerators
  • Electric water heater wraps and insulation for water pipes
  • Power strips
  • Adjustment of electric water heater temperature
  • HVAC filter installation

“The Neighborhood Energy Efficiency Program is another way we work to serve the communities throughout our service territory,” said Gerald Freeman, program manager of SCE&G’s Neighborhood Energy Efficiency Program. “The program allows us to meet customers, hear their concerns related to their power usage, and show them how they can save energy by making small but significant changes.”

SCE&G offers a comprehensive portfolio of EnergyWise® programs that work together to increase overall energy efficiency and reduce energy usage during peak times. By taking advantage of the energy efficiency tips, rebates and incentives associated with EnergyWise programs, SCE&G customers have reduced electricity usage by 650,000 megawatt hours during the last six years – that’s enough energy to power 48,255 homes for a year.
