SCE&G to Temporarily Interrupt Service, Close Lanes to Perform Aerial Tree Trimming Along Hunting Island
Beaufort S.C. (March 2, 2018) – SCE&G will interrupt electric service to approximately 1,800 customers on Hunting Island and Fripp Island Monday, March 5, through Wednesday, March 7, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. daily, to perform aerial tree trimming along a 3.5-mile span of U.S. Highway 21 and S.C. Route 406. The work also will require intermittent lane closures from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day, beginning near the entrance to Hunting Island State Park, with traffic stopped in both directions for about 30 minutes at a time, then open again.
“While tree trimming is critical to increasing the safety and reliability of the electric service in the area, we also understand that scheduled outages and lane closures can create an inconvenience for our customers in the community,” said SCE&G Southern District Manager Evan Wheeler. “We appreciate their understanding and patience as we complete this important project.”
SCE&G is urging all residents to exercise caution while driving in this area. Customers with questions can contact SCE&G at 1-800-251-7234.
