Lane Closures on Interstate 26 and U.S. Highway 601 in Orangeburg Scheduled for Week of March 19

Orangeburg S.C. (March 16, 2018) – Lanes along portions of I-26 and U.S. Highway 601 in Orangeburg will be closed during overnight hours, March 19-25, as SCE&G’s contractor crews perform overhead electric line work across the roadways. The work will be performed in coordination with the S.C. Highway Patrol and the S.C. Department of Transportation to reduce the impact on traffic flow.

The project will begin approximately one-half mile east of mile marker 142. Work will then relocate March 20-25 at the intersection of I-26 and U.S. Highway 601. The project will result in inside lane and shoulder closures in the eastbound and westbound directions from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. each night.

“Electric line work is always planned with the customer in mind,” said Larry Duffy, manager of power delivery operations. “This system upgrade is designed to maintain the standards of safety and reliability that our customers expect from us, as we work to meet the growing need for power across our service territory.”

SCE&G urges all motorists traveling in the area to expect delays and exercise caution during these hours.
