Cayce, S.C. (April 2, 2018) – Residents of Williston and Elko attended a community meeting March 29 to receive information about an energy-efficiency program that SCE&G is offering at no charge to residential customers in the area.

SCE&G’s Neighborhood Energy Efficiency Program will provide approximately 800 eligible Williston and Elko customers with energy assessments, education and direct installation of energy-saving improvements.

Attendees at the event learned about the energy-saving improvements that they will receive for no charge through the program, including, but not limited to:

  • LED light bulbs
  • Kitchen faucet aerators
  • Electric water heater wraps and insulation for water pipes
  • Advanced power strips
  • Adjustment of electric water heater temperature
  • HVAC filter installation

“We’re dedicated to educating our customers about ways they can make their homes more energy efficient,” said Gerald Freeman, program manager of SCE&G’s Neighborhood Energy Efficiency Program. “The Neighborhood Energy Efficiency Program allows us to visit our customers in their communities, hear their concerns related to their power usage, and work with them to save energy and money.”

SCE&G offers a comprehensive portfolio of EnergyWise® programs that work together to increase overall energy efficiency and reduce energy usage during peak times. By taking advantage of the energy-efficiency tips, rebates and incentives associated with EnergyWise programs, SCE&G customers have reduced electricity usage by 650,000 megawatt hours during the last six years – that’s enough energy to power 48,255 homes for a year.
