West Ashley Tree Pruning Workshop Scheduled for May 17

Charleston S.C. (May 14, 2018) – SCE&G will start pruning trees in the West Ashley area this summer as part of its five-year-cycle to maintain public safety and electric system reliability. The company will host an educational drop-in workshop on Thursday, May 17 from 5:30-7 p.m. in Founders Hall at Charles Towne Landing located at 1500 Old Towne Road. The room will be set up in informational stations to allow interested residents the opportunity to drop in at their convenience and ask questions at any time during the workshop.

“Members of SCE&G’s operational team will be on hand to review specific tree trimming plans by neighborhood, and answer questions about safety, reliability, proper pruning methods and more,” said Bill Turner, SCE&G vice president of electric operations.  “We invite our customers to meet with us, ask questions and learn more about this year’s tree trimming locations and methods.”

Representatives from the South Carolina Forestry Commission and Lewis Tree Service, the contractor performing the work, will also be in attendance. To help residents better understand the scope of work in their community, oversized maps marking the streets where trimming is planned will also be on display.
