Cayce, S.C. (July 16, 2018) – Lanes along portions of I-26 in West Columbia will be closed from 7 p.m.-5 a.m. daily, July 16-July 19, as SCE&G contract crews perform overhead electric line work across the roadway. To reduce the impact on traffic, the work will take place during overnight hours in coordination with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Work will occur approximately .5 miles east of mile marker 113. It will require the following nighttime closures: westbound inside lane, eastbound outside lane and westbound shoulder. Lanes are expected to be clear for normal traffic flow by approximately 7 a.m. daily.
“We plan electric line work with customers and the general public in mind,” said Kelvin Rogers, general manager of electric transmission for SCE&G. “Our goal with this project, as with all other work we complete on power lines throughout our service territory, is to enhance reliability for customers.”
All motorists are encouraged to exercise caution in designated work zones.
