CAYCE, S.C. (Nov. 29, 2018) – Walterboro Church of God recently saved nearly $6,000 of the total
cost of their interior lighting project. SCE&G wants to help other nonprofits and small businesses save
significantly when they make energy-saving improvements to their facilities.
Through SCE&G’s Small Business Energy Solutions Program, eligible participants may receive up to 80 percent of the
cost of most energy-efficient lighting or refrigeration upgrades. Program representatives will go door-to-door
meeting with eligible small business and nonprofit electric customers. To schedule an appointment or for more
information, customers can call 877-784-7234 or visit sceg.com/WALTERBORO.
“We’ve saved around $1,700 this year alone because of the new energy-efficient lighting, which is approximately what
we invested at the beginning of the project,” said Steven McAbee, pastor of Walterboro Church of God. “I recommend
other businesses check it out because the program fit our needs and our upgrades have already paid for themselves.
Additionally, we’ll continue to see savings down the line.”
- Free, on-site energy analysis of lighting or refrigeration usage.
- Simple, cost-effective options and easy-to-follow recommendations to help manage lighting or
- Financial incentives that cover up to 80 percent (not to exceed $6,000) of the cost of most lighting or
refrigeration retrofit projects with a fast return on investment.
- Pre-qualified contractors to perform the work at the convenience of the business, as well as removal and
environmentally friendly disposal of old fluorescent lamps and ballasts.
The program is available to SCE&G’s small business and small, nonprofit customers with five or fewer SCE&G electric
accounts and an annual energy use of 350,000 kilowatt hours or less. For information about how to participate,

program manager with SCE&G. “The savings these small businesses experience will allow owners to invest in their
companies and agencies, which will benefit the entire community.”
SCE&G also offers the EnergyWise for Your Business Program, which provides incentives for energy-efficient equipment
installations, including other lighting and HVAC upgrades to commercial, industrial, institutional, and government
customers of any size.
