On April 16, 2015, significant changes to water heater energy factor (EF) requirements went into effect as a result of updates to the National Appliance Energy Conservation Act (NAECA). These new requirements affect virtually all residential gas and electric tank-type water heaters. Tankless units are already in compliance with the new requirements.
While the new requirements improve a tank-type water heater’s overall efficiency, they also dramatically increase their price. Compliant tank-type units are also larger so they may no longer fit in the same place your existing water heater resides.
But don’t worry about these new requirements—that’s our job! SCE&G takes all the guesswork out of it. A member of our sales team will gladly come to your home and help you select a water heater that will keep you happy for years to come.
